Bus Overview

HK Open Tour (HK Buslines) is the largest operator on the long road between the rice terraces of Sapa and the limestone landscapes of Ninh Binh. The route uses the same 2024 cabin buses as HK's Hanoi – Sapa line: every passenger gets a private lie-flat cabin with a curtain and a massage function.

The journey takes about 8 – 9 hours, so many travelers choose a night departure and sleep on the way. You are picked up at your hotel in Sapa town and can choose to get off in Tam Coc or in Ninh Binh City, whichever is closer to your accommodation.

Cabin Location

  • Each bus has 11 – 12 double cabins on the lower deck and 11 – 12 single cabins on the upper deck.
  • In each row, there are two cabins positioned side by side and facing each other.
  • Every cabin is equipped with windows and curtain, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenic views throughout the journey.

Cabin Size

  • Both Double and Single Cabins have the same dimensions, measuring 90cm in width and 180cm in length.
  • Double Cabins are located on the lower deck and are designed to comfortably accommodate two slim passengers.
  • Single Cabins are on the upper deck (standard) or the lower deck (no ladder to climb) and are intended for individual travelers.

From Sapa to Ninh Binh

  • 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:30, 22:00, 22:30 everyday we pick up at your hotel in Sapa town
  • Around 8 – 9 hours arrive Ninh Binh City or Tam Coc

From Ninh Binh to Sapa

  • 06:00, 09:00, 11:30, 20:30, 21:30, 22:00 everyday we pick up in Ninh Binh City or Tam Coc
  • Around 8 – 9 hours arrive at your hotel in Sapa town

Additional Useful Information

Luggage Allowance

  • Each passenger is allowed to bring up to 20kg of luggage.
  • Additionally, passengers can carry one small handbag weighing around 5kg.

Seat Type

  • Single Cabin (Upper deck): the standard cabin, USD 31.
  • Single Cabin (Lower deck): same cabin without the ladder, USD 37.
  • Double Cabin (Lower deck): one 90 x 180cm cabin for two people, USD 42 per cabin.

Other Information

  • There is no toilet on board; the bus makes rest stops along the way.
  • Children aged 0 to 4 can travel for free, provided they share a seat with their parents.
  • Eating or bringing food on board is not allowed.
  • HK Open Bus operates multiple buses, all featuring the same design and color scheme.
  • The interior of each bus is meticulously cleaned and vacuumed after every trip. Buses are washed daily and undergo monthly maintenance.
  • Each cabin is equipped with a leather mattress and pillow, as well as a soft velvet blanket for added comfort.
